Lunchroom/Recess Monitor (Elementary)

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma

2. Previous work with children is preferable

3. Over the age of 21 years

4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Reports To:

Building Administrator

Job Goal:

To provide assistance to students during the lunch program and supervise students to ensure a positive and safe environment.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Direct movement of students entering and exiting the cafeteria.

2. Assign seating at lunchroom tables.

3. Create lunchroom seating chart of students for emergency situations. Update chart as necessary throughout the school year.

4. Teach and reinforce lunchroom and recess rules and expectations.

5. Monitor and reinforce proper student behavior. Encourage peaceful resolutions to student conflicts.

6. Supervise and direct transition of students to and from the lunchroom, playground and classrooms in a safe and organized manner.

7. Assume responsibility of the playground equipment.

8. Informs the lunchroom supervisor or building administrators of any problem or special information about an individual student or students.

9. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.

10. Wipe down cafeteria tables in between lunch periods and conduct other minor clean-up duties as needed.

11. Complete district annual training required by all employees.

12. Assumes responsibility for other duties as may be assigned by the building administrators or appointed personnel.

Terms of Employment:

Salary to be established by the Board. Work year includes all student attendance days.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel
