Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients' mental health status and identify their specific needs.
  • Designing and implementing tailored therapeutic interventions based on the individual conditions, ensuring they align with best practices in mental health treatment.
  • Providing regular counseling sessions, creating a safe space where clients can express their concerns and work through challenges such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, or eating disorders.
  • Collaborating proficiently with other healthcare professionals to develop holistic treatment plans and refer clients to psychiatrists or specialized services when necessary.
  • Documenting patient progress in accordance with clinic policies, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems to maintain accurate and updated patient files.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will engage with a diverse patient population, including individuals facing a wide spectrum of mental health issues. The clinic serves clients of various backgrounds, and your work will address complex conditions such as mood disorders, trauma-related issues, substance abuse, and family dynamics. This variety ensures that you will gain extensive experience in tailoring your therapeutic approach to meet each client's cultural and individual needs.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for this role:

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in New York State.
  • At least two years of relevant clinical experience providing mental health services.
  • A strong understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to establish rapport with clients.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experiences will enhance your application:

  • Knowledge and practice of culturally responsive therapy that honors diverse backgrounds and lifestyles.
  • Experience facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in utilizing EHR systems and familiarity with telehealth platforms.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include:
