ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The ICU Registered Nurse delivers coordinated nursing care for patients or assigned groups of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. This role involves supervising and directing the activities of various nursing staff levels while coordinating care with other disciplines. The use of critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; acute care facility experience preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per organizational policy: Required.
  • AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification: Required.

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues.
• Develops intervention plans aimed at achieving patient outcomes.
• Implements care plans, coordinates care delivery, and promotes a healthy, safe environment.
• Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes.
• Identifies and collaborates on patient outcomes with the healthcare team, family, and patients.
• Provides educational opportunities for patients, family members, and team members.
• Engages in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegates appropriately and coordinates tasks among healthcare team members.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
