Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Dietary, the Dietary Coordinator supports and coordinates the daily operations of the Dietary Department and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations regarding food service, nutrition standards, safety, sanitation, and resident rights.

The work schedule is between 8-10 days per pay period, AM/PM shifts may vary during the weekday and require working every other weekend.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operational & Administrative Oversight

• Coordinate and place food/supply orders in alignment with the facility’s approved budget.
• Maintain documentation, records, and reporting requirements in compliance with Minnesota and federal regulations (e.g., food safety, sanitation, dietary guidelines).
• Audit daily dietary operations, including staff food‑service practices, to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Conduct dining‑room audits and meet with residents to assess satisfaction and meal quality.
• Ensure meals are served safely, timely, and meet quality expectations.

• Staff Guidance & Support

• Provide ongoing training, coaching, and support for dietary employees, including food safety, sanitation, safe‑equipment operation, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with cook or dietary aide duties when necessary to maintain adequate staffing and continuity of resident care.
• Serve as backup for the Dietary Director during absences.

• Resident‑Centered Responsibilities

• Ensure dietary services meet individual care plans and resident preferences when feasible.
• Communicate effectively with residents, family members, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams.

• Perform other related duties as assigned in support of resident care and dietary operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a senior care, skilled nursing facility, healthcare, or related setting preferred. Demonstrated culinary experience, including preparing and cooking meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, texture modifications, and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for large groups or working in a commercial kitchen environment preferred.
• ServSafe® certification required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to comply with applicable workplace safety, food service, and regulatory requirements.
• Must successfully pass the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background study and U.S. Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusion List screening.
• Basic proficiency in the use of computers, email, standard office software, and other job-related technology.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written forms.
• Ability to prepare, review, and maintain work-related records, reports, and correspondence as required by the position.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to exchange information effectively with coworkers, supervisors, residents, family members, vendors, and others as needed in the course of work.
• Must meet all health requirements, including immunizations and infection control protocols, as required by applicable regulations and facility policies.

Physical/Mental Requirements

• Ability to endure prolonged walking, sitting, standing, use of pulling, bending, and stooping movements. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 
• Frequently twists, stoops, bends, squats, kneels.  Occasionally lift and carry equipment and supplies that weigh up to 50 pounds. 
• Frequently reaches above or at shoulder level.  Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hours and schedule. 

• Must be able to read small print in typed and written material. 
• Possesses necessary skills to continuously comprehend and communicate with residents, co-workers, and to respond to emergency alarms.

• Concentrates with frequent interruptions and remembers multiple messages, information and task assignments to perform a variety of tasks during an eight-hour timeframe.

• Standing 70% of the time, walking 20%, and sitting 10%.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and squatting; occasional reaching above and below shoulder level.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation, consistent with the Minnesota Human Rights Act (MHRA).
• Must be able to clearly communicate in English orally and in writing with residents and staff. 

Compensation & Benefits:
Pay range is between $45,760-$52,000 per annual based on experience. Benefits eligibility may include medical, dental, 403(b) retirement, life insurance, PTO and paid holidays, in accordance with company policies.
