QA Auditor

Ascent Aviation

Quality Assurance Auditor

Ascent Aviation Services is one of the largest aviation maintenance, repair, overhaul, storage and reclamation operations in the world. Our strength comes from our talented and professional employees who excel through teamwork and enthusiasm. Ascent Aviation Services continues to grow and are continually looking for motivated and career minded aviation professionals who will support our vision and goals.

Join Our Team as a Quality Assurance Auditor! At Ascent, we operate in a complex, multi-authority environment — holding approvals from the FAA, EASA, TCCA, and other global regulators. Our success depends on professionals who can navigate these standards with skill, integrity, and curiosity, while embodying our core values of respect, safety, quality, and results. Guided by these principles, you'll help uphold the highest standards that keep our operations running smoothly and securely.

If you're an aviation quality professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys turning compliance into capability, we'd like to meet you. The Quality Assurance Auditor plays a key role in maintaining Ascent's commitment to safety, compliance, and continual improvement. You'll plan, perform, and report audits across departments, vendors, and maintenance programs — ensuring conformance to FAA and foreign authority requirements, customer standards, and company procedures. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, systems-minded professional who understands both the technical and organizational sides of quality assurance.

We are actively interviewing now, with hiring to begin after the first of the year.

As a 24/7 operation, we have openings across all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and 12-hour schedules. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work any shift based on operational needs. Some schedules may qualify for shift differential. Overtime—both scheduled and unscheduled, including holidays—may also be required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and document internal, external, and vendor audits per FAA, foreign air authority, C.A.S.E. 1A, and AS9100 standards, as well as related criteria such as NFPA 10 and NFPA 407.
  • Identify and track findings, issue Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and support effective Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) development.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal departments, customers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Perform daily surveillance, Vendor On-Site (VOS), and Work-In-Progress (WIP) audits to ensure ongoing compliance and process health.
  • Analyze audit data for trends, provide metrics, and participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Conduct supplier audits and verify subcontractor quality system compliance.
  • Support investigations of product or process deficiencies and assist in developing robust corrective actions.
  • Mentor and coach team members to build auditing, analytical, and quality system awareness across the organization.

Who Thrives in This Role:

  • Regulatory bridge-builders — fluent in FAA requirements and conversant with foreign air authority expectations.
  • System thinkers — able to connect training, procedures, tools, and human factors into a single quality picture.
  • Strong communicators — clear, factual, and constructive when presenting findings or feedback.
  • Coaches, not cops — driving improvement and accountability through collaboration, not confrontation.
  • Curious professionals — always asking why a deviation occurred, not just what happened.
  • Integrity-driven — trusted by both leadership and technicians to be fair, accurate, and consistent.

You Will Get More Than Just Compensation:

  • 401K with company match
  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance
  • PTO - Eligible for 3 Weeks in Your First Year, in Addition to 7 Paid Company Holidays
  • Company-Provided Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance
  • Development and Career Growth Opportunities

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations and quality system standards recognized by foreign air authorities.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to clearly present findings and expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic data-tracking tools.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including structured root cause and corrective action development.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills in managing multiple audits and corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across teams.
  • Professional, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, BS in aviation or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance auditing experience in aviation maintenance, manufacturing, or another regulated quality environment.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Occasional crawling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated:

  • Standard office equipment (computers, phones, etc.)
  • Audit-specific equipment and software
  • Safety inspection tools as required

Working Conditions:

  • Work location: Aircraft maintenance hangar, flightline, and office areas.
  • Potential hazards: Exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, chemicals, electrical systems, and moving machinery.
  • Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety harness, face shields, etc.

Other Duties:

  • May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.

SMS Requirements:

  • Employees are responsible for performing their duties in accordance with company policies and government regulations. These rules are written in the interest of preserving the lives and the resources entrusted to each employee, and when the rules are violated, the risk of a mishap is usually increased.
  • Employees shall participate in safety education programs and train to recognize hazards on the job and how to report them promptly. As a condition of employment, each member of Ascent Aviation agrees to report errors, incidents, and accidents honestly.
  • An employee who observes an unsafe action or condition should bring it to the attention of supervisors and managers. Certain conditions may allow the employee to easily correct or condition a situation.

Duties not listed within the position description may be required of the employee at the discretion of the department management. Job functions may vary due to irregular working conditions or multiple shift positions.
