Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months required License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, peripheral IV starts, wound care/dressing changes, central/PICC line management, NG tube insertion/maintenance Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This position involves caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including NSTEMI, dysrhythmias, observation, post-cardiac catheterization, appendectomies, colectomies, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, sepsis, and abdominal pain. The nurse will work with an average patient ratio of 1:5-6, which may decrease with acute patients. The department provides support with a charge nurse who rarely takes patient assignments, available phlebotomy, and an IV/VAT team for hard sticks and PICC lines. Telemetry monitoring and respiratory therapy are available 24/7. The Electronic Medical Record system used is EPIC, and additional equipment includes IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and specific unit monitors. Weekend rotation is required every other week, with no on-call obligations. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 summer holidays and 1 from each winter holiday grouping. Scrub color is navy. All candidates must adhere to nail care regulations by keeping natural nail tips less than ¼ inch long and prohibiting artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient care.
