About the Role

Gas Turbine Applications (GTA) is looking for a true manual machinist — someone who learned the trade on engine lathes, mills, and grinders, not just CNC screens. This is a hands-on job-shop role supporting industrial gas turbine repair and overhaul.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform manual machining on lathes, mills, grinders, and related support equipment.
• Repair and modify turbine components and rotating-equipment parts during rebuilds.
• Work from prints, worn parts, or reverse-engineered measurements as the job requires.
• Hold tight tolerances without relying on automation or fixturing.
• Support shop operations with one-off, short-run, and prototype work.
• Document work performed and measurements taken per shop quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on manual machining experience (engine lathe, manual mill, surface / cylindrical grinder).
• Comfortable on legacy equipment; CNC experience is a plus but not a substitute.
• Ability to read mechanical prints and use precision measuring tools (mics, bore gauges, indicators).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems independently.
• High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience in a gas turbine, aerospace, or rotating-equipment repair environment.
• Exposure to rotor work, balancing, or runouts.
• Prior job-shop or short-run production experience.
