Junior Linux AdminContract-to-hire opportunity: 3-6 monthsCheckAlt, a leading provider of integrated receivables and deposit imaging solutions for hundreds of financial institutions and businesses across the U.S., is hiring.The RoleThe Junior Linux Admin is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and implementing solutions to optimize the infrastructure operations primarily but not limited to AWS. Analyze and identifies all or part of the company’s existing servers and network. Responsibilities will include assisting Sr. Engineer’s design, implement, code, test, document, and maintains systems integration solutions.What you'll do:Provide system administration, operational support and problem resolution for a Linux computing environment on both cloud and on-prem virtual platform.Create and Patch AMIs, perform pull requests, write Automation code.Perform Linux administration including changes, server management, implementation, backups, etc.Use your infrastructure and networking knowledge to maintain cloud based infrastructure predominantly on AWS involving EC2, S3, RDS & VPC.Use configuration management tools (primarily Ansible and Terraform) to build and maintain a hybrid infrastructure hosted both at colocation facilities and in the public cloud.Work directly with the Sr. Engineers & development team to build supporting infrastructure for specific application functionality.Run proof of concept projects on early stage infrastructure improvements to validate the feasibility of an approach, evaluate performance, and spike an implementation.Review, maintain and evaluate virtual server performance and capacity.The talents you'll bring:Minimum 5-year experience with Linux System AdministrationMinimum 2-year experience with AWSExperience with Linux Servers CentOS 6+, RedHat, Amazon LINUX a plusExperience with VMware ESXi 6+, vCenter 6+Experience with deployment and managing AWS WebServicesExperience with developer tools including Github, JiraExperience using automation and management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, dockerUnderstanding of Active DirectoryUnderstand basic networking conceptsWindows server administration a plusJava, Wildfly & PostgreSQL knowledge a major plusCharacteristics you’ll have:Results-oriented with the self-motivation and drive to enable client success.Ability to wear multiple hats and pivot strategies and execution in a timely manner.Motivation to continuously improve results.A personal and business value of treating others with honesty and respect.CheckAlt is the largest independent provider of treasury and receivables management solutions in the country.
