Grocery Department Manager

Position Overview The Grocery Department Manager is responsible for directing and supervising the department manager in all aspects of daily operations and activities of the department. Responsibilities include ensuring the quality, freshness, and product assortment are maintained throughout the grocery department(s). Will ensure that receiving, stocking, and rotating product, facing product, taking special orders, training new associates, and providing exceptional customer service are done in a timely and professional manner. Work to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department; to ensure that the work shifts of all department personnel contribute to the financial best interests of the store. Job Description Availability Open Shift: Morning, Day, Evening (Varies Per Store Needs) Job Type: Full Time Pay: $22/hr Location: Grand Union -87 E State St., Sherrill, NY 13461 Responsibilities Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures Works with the Asst. Grocery Manager with the successful operation of the department Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services provided Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the department Receives, stores, and stocks a wide variety of products Orders products to meet the needs of the grocery departments based on past and projected sales Pulls out of date product from the shelves Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Department Manager and/or Store Manager Consistent and daily interaction with store associates, customers, and vendors Requirements Travel Required: No Environment: Store: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F) Skills Specialized Knowledge: Strong computer skills Special Skills: Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions Physical abilities: Requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to: Regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries Years Of Experience 2-5: Retail Experience Qualifications: High School Diploma - General Studies Shift 1st Shift (United States of America) Company GU Markets, LLC.
