Swim Instructor

Overview We are currently hiring multiple energetic Swim Instructors who have a passion for kids and the water. Must be able to work 2 shifts per week (min 8-10 hours) and be available 1 weekend day minimum. Prior swim experience is not necessary, but a willingness to learn and have FUN is a must. Paid training is provided! We offer a warm, tropical atmosphere focused on kids and family. Shifts are set each week and consistent until you request a new schedule. Financial bonuses and advancement opportunities, including supervisory and management positions, are available. Training is paid and Lifeguard/CPR courses are provided in-facility once per month exclusively to Goldfish employees. Responsibilities Swim Teacher responsibilities include teaching life skills to children, such as swimming, diving, floating, treading water, and building confidence through small successes. Maintain a fun and positive attitude at all times and provide continuous feedback to students and parents weekly after lessons. Ensure swimmer safety during class and encourage students to follow the “Golden Safety Rules.” Attend paid in-service and training sessions outside of regular working hours, as required once per month. As Lifeguard duties are part of the role, maintain lifeguard readiness and safety while on duty. Lifeguard Duties and Responsibilities All instructors are also lifeguard certified. Note: this does not necessarily require working a lifeguard shift. Job Title and Reporting Job Title: Swim Instructor/Lifeguard Reports to: General Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary Ensures the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Wears the required Goldfish Swim School Lifeguard uniform while on duty, including PPE and a rescue tube. Responsibilities (Continued) Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility and act immediately to secure safety in emergencies. Communicate facility rules to patrons fairly and consistently. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until EMS arrives. Ensure EMS or other medical services are contacted by the most appropriate means when necessary. Present a professional appearance and maintain a high standard of customer service. Complete accident/incident reports as necessary. Maintain a clean and safe facility and assist with closing procedures. Qualifications / Experience Previous swim instruction or swim coach experience is preferred but not required. Experience working with children and strong communication skills with children, parents, and team members. Must have or obtain AED/CPR/First Aid certifications within 90 days (courses provided by facility staff once per month, limited to Goldfish Swim School staff). Shallow Water Lifeguard certification – Ellis preferred; Red Cross accepted. Must attend monthly trainings to maintain certifications. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor required. Swimming experience preferred. Certificates and Licenses Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Shallow water attendant highly recommended. Work Environment Indoor environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and chlorinated water. Noise level is usually moderate to loud. #J-18808-Ljbffr
