Quality Engineer

Our exceptional team, powertrain-agnostic product portfolio, vertical integration, global footprint, and close customer partnerships make us a trusted supplier to the world's leading automotive manufacturers.The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving product and process quality within the manufacturing facility by utilizing automotive quality tools, data analysis, and problem-solving techniques. This role works closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards while driving continuous improvement and defect prevention initiatives.Responsibilities of Position:Support and maintain compliance with the site's Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable IATF 16949 requirements.Lead and facilitate problem-solving activities using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and other root cause analysis methodologies.Investigate internal quality issues, customer complaints, and supplier concerns and implement corrective and preventive actions.Develop, review, and maintain APQP documentation including PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and Work Instructions.Coordinate and support PPAP submissions, approvals, and engineering changes.Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and defect reduction.Support customer audits, IATF audits, and internal audits and assist with corrective action implementation.Monitor process controls, SPC data, product audits, and layered process audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness.Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams during new product launches and process changes.Participate in containment activities and quality-related production support as needed.Support supplier quality initiatives including corrective actions, performance monitoring, and qualification activities.Ensure inspection and testing methods are effective and comply with customer and internal requirements.Assist in calibration program activities and measurement system analysis (MSA) studies.Promote a culture of quality, customer focus, continuous improvement, and accountability throughout the facility.Perform other job-related duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned to support business objectives, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.Skill Requirements:Strong understanding of automotive quality systems and customer-specific requirements.Knowledge of Core Quality Tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and customer requirements.Effective communication and presentation skills.Strong organizational and project management abilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and quality-related software systems.Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical field preferred.Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.Experience working within an IATF 16949-certified environment preferred.Experience with injection molding processes is highly desirable.Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and quality methodologies.Experience with customer interaction, audits, and corrective action management.Licensing or Special Certification Requirements:Preferred certifications include:ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)IATF 16949 Internal Auditor TrainingCore Tools Training (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)Physical Requirements:Frequent standing and walking throughout the manufacturing facility.Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.Ability to perform visual inspections and utilize measurement equipment.Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.Working Conditions:Works in both office and manufacturing environments.Exposure to noise, heat, dust, moving equipment, and manufacturing processes.Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on the production floor.May occasionally work outside normal business hours to support customer needs, audits, launches, or quality-related issues.Occasional travel may be required for customer visits, supplier visits, training, or audits.
