Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Estimating to lead and elevate our Estimating and Design departments. This executive-level role will oversee the Chief Estimator and team, driving accuracy, consistency, and innovation in our estimating processes. The Director of Estimating will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, and business development to ensure Preferred Electric remains at the forefront of competitive project delivery. Key Responsibilities · Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to the Chief Estimator and Estimating team. · Oversee all bid and proposal activities, ensuring timely, accurate, and competitive submissions. · Implement, maintain, and continuously improve standardized estimating and bidding procedures. · Develop strategic approaches to plan/spec and design/build projects that align with company growth goals. · Track and review all bid opportunities, ensuring alignment with company workload and profitability targets. · Evaluate project risk and recommend pricing strategies to executive management. · Collaborate with preconstruction, engineering, and project management teams to ensure smooth project transitions from bid to execution. · Maintain deep understanding of NEC requirements and industry trends to inform estimating standards. · Lead efforts in leveraging technology—including estimating software (Accubid Classic and Change Order Pro)—to improve efficiency and accuracy. · Participate in strategic planning and executive decision-making to drive company-wide operational excellence. Qualifications · 15+ years of experience in electrical construction estimating, with at least 10 years in a leadership or management capacity. · Proven ability to lead teams and drive accountability in a high-volume estimating environment. · Strong understanding of NEC, construction methodologies, and cost analysis principles. · Proficiency in estimating software such as Accubid and related management tools. · Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills. · Strategic thinker with the ability to balance precision, efficiency, and creativity. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $140,000 – $210,000 annually, based on experience.
