Accounts Payable Clerk

Contact information Employee Type Full Time Non-Exempt Description O’Rourke Wrecking is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. This position is responsible for supporting the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and vendor account management. The ideal candidate will be reliable, customer service-focused, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in the construction industry is beneficial to this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable Duties: Code and enter invoices, expense reports, and check requests into accounting software in a timely and accurate manner. Verify accuracy of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents. Complete credit applications. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Audit and update vendor insurance coverage. Follow directions of AP Specialist in support of the timely processing of vendor payments. Assist in the maintenance of organized and accurate financial records. Answer incoming calls to AP and direct inquiries as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ComputerEase, Raken) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to multitask and handle confidential information with discretion. This position is considered to have minimal physical demands. The employee will primarily be seated at a desk for extended periods, using a computer, keyboard, and telephone. Occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 15 pounds may be required. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This is an office-based role where over 90% of the employee’s time will be spent in a climate-controlled environment. The employee will work in a professional office setting with standard office equipment. Minimal exposure to outdoor conditions or hazardous environments is expected.
