Project Executive – Commercial MEP Construction Location: Upstate South Carolina Reports To: Senior Project Executive Travel: ~25% regional Position Summary The Project Executive leads a portfolio of large mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role holds full profit-and-loss responsibility, oversees project teams, and serves as the primary executive contact for clients and partners. The position contributes to strategic growth and leadership development within the organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee full project lifecycle: preconstruction, execution, and closeout Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, quality, and safety targets Establish and enforce project controls, scheduling, and productivity standards Manage risk, materials, and critical path to maintain delivery performance Client & Stakeholder Management Act as executive point of contact for owners, general contractors, and design teams Lead high-level meetings, negotiations, and issue resolution Build and maintain long-term client relationships and identify repeat business opportunities Lead, mentor, and develop project management and field teams Drive accountability, performance standards, and team alignment Conduct project reviews, planning sessions, and risk assessments Financial & Risk Management Manage cost projections, billing, cash flow, and change orders Oversee contract administration and mitigate financial and legal risks Partner with finance teams on reporting and forecasting Communication & Culture Communicate clearly across stakeholders and resolve conflicts effectively Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance Lead by example to support team engagement and morale Strategic Growth Support business development, estimating, and pursuit strategy Contribute to company growth initiatives and operational improvements Required Qualifications 10+ years in commercial construction; 5+ years in senior project leadership Experience managing large-scale MEP or multi-trade projects ($15M+) Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or piping systems Proven P&L accountability and project delivery success Experience leading and developing project teams Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools Preferred Qualifications Experience with self-perform or trade contractor operations Background in industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, or large commercial projects Familiarity with negotiated or design-build delivery methods Ideal Candidate A hands‑on construction leader with strong technical expertise and leadership skills.
