Pet Care Plus is hiring an Experienced Dog Groomer who can independently complete full-service grooms and deliver safe, high-quality care.

Serving Chicago pet families since 1998, Pet Care Plus offers grooming within an established pet-care facility that also provides daycare, lodging, enrichment, and training. This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable groomer who wants scheduling flexibility, opportunities to build repeat clientele, and the support of a collaborative pet-care team.

Both full-time and part-time schedules are available. Groomers must be available to work at least one weekend day each week .

What You’ll Do

• Independently complete full-service dog grooms
• Bathe, brush, dry, trim, clip, and style dogs based on breed, coat condition, and pet-parent preferences
• Perform breed-specific and customized haircuts
• Provide nail trims, ear cleaning, de-shedding treatments, and other grooming services
• Consult with pet parents regarding grooming preferences, coat condition, maintenance, and individual pet needs
• Safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments
• Monitor pets for signs of stress, discomfort, injury, or health concerns
• Maintain accurate grooming notes and client preferences
• Communicate professionally with pet parents and fellow team members
• Clean and sanitize grooming tools, tables, tubs, kennels, and workspaces between pets
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal-handling procedures
• Groom cats when qualified and experienced

What We’re Looking For

• At least one year of professional dog-grooming experience required
• Ability to independently complete full-service dog grooms from start to finish
• Knowledge of coat types, breed-specific cuts, and professional grooming techniques
• Strong scissoring, clipping, bathing, drying, and finishing skills
• Confidence handling dogs of different sizes and temperaments
• Excellent pet-parent communication and customer-service skills
• Dependability, organization, and attention to detail
• A strong commitment to pet safety, comfort, and humane handling
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including one weekend day each week
• Grooming portfolio or photos of previous work preferred
• Cat-grooming experience is a plus but is not required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive grooming movements
• Ability to safely lift and handle pets weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to safely assist with larger dogs when needed
• Comfort working around pet hair, barking, water, cleaning products, and pet waste

Compensation

This is a commission-based position . Full-time groomers typically earn approximately $45,000–$70,000+ annually, plus customer tips .

Actual earnings depend on experience, schedule, availability, productivity, services performed, client demand, and the number and type of appointments completed. Benefits eligibility depends on employment status, scheduled hours, and applicable plan requirements.
