Travel RN Job Details Job Title: LTAC Registered Nurse (RN) Nursing Specialty: Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Employment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract Location: Madison, Wisconsin Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080 Start Date: November 2, 2026 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week Work Setting: On-site long-term acute care facility LTAC Registered Nurse Job Requirements Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Wisconsin At least 1 year of bedside clinical nursing experience required Two or more years of bedside nursing experience preferred Experience in long-term acute care, critical care, rehabilitation, or caring for medically complex patients preferred Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required before the first shift Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, organization, and time-management skills Travel RN Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for patients upon admission and throughout the episode of care. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process. Provide safe, compassionate bedside nursing care to patients with complex and long-term acute care needs. Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and promptly communicate pertinent updates to appropriate care team members. Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, education, and care coordination accurately and in a timely manner in the medical record. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, patients, and families to support quality outcomes and continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and contribute relevant patient information to ongoing care planning. Provide patient and family education related to diagnoses, treatments, medications, safety, and discharge planning. Initiate discharge planning from admission and help prepare patients and families for a safe transition of care. Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to nursing assistants and other supportive personnel. Promote patient and workplace safety by following infection prevention, safe handling, fall prevention, and environmental safety practices. Prioritize care effectively, manage time and resources responsibly, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented unit environment. Assume charge responsibilities after orientation when requested and participate in ongoing professional development.
