We’re looking for talented, passionate people to help shape our upcoming project. We are currently seeking an Environment Artist (Associate, Mid-Level, or Senior) with a focus on prop and asset creation to join our team. This role will collaborate closely with Art and Design leadership to create high-quality props and environmental assets that enhance gameplay spaces, support storytelling, and bring our worlds to life.

What you'll do:

• Create High-Quality Prop Assets:
Build detailed, game-ready props from proxy to final polish, ensuring strong visual fidelity, readability, and performance optimization.

• Support Environment Cohesion Through Assets:
Contribute to the overall look and feel of environments by producing props that enhance atmosphere, storytelling, and gameplay clarity.

• Balance Art and Technical Constraints:
Ensure assets meet gameplay needs, performance budgets, and engine requirements while maintaining high visual quality.

• Collaborate Across Disciplines:
Work closely with environment artists, designers, technical artists, and engineers to ensure assets integrate seamlessly into the game world.

• Implement Feedback Efficiently:
Take direction from art leadership and iterate quickly based on feedback to meet project goals and visual targets.

• Manage Production Quality and Efficiency:
Accurately estimate tasks, manage asset complexity, and consistently deliver high-quality work on schedule.

Who You Are:

We are open to candidates across multiple experience levels. Responsibilities and expectations scale based on experience and scope of ownership.

Associate Level

• 1–3 years of experience (or equivalent personal/indie work) in 3D asset or prop creation
• Strong foundational understanding of modeling, texturing, and asset optimization
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine and asset integration workflows
• Portfolio demonstrating prop creation and attention to detail
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative production environment

Mid-Level

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in game art or prop/environment asset creation
• Strong portfolio of production-quality props shipped or used in real-time projects
• Proficiency with Unreal Engine, Substance, and DCC tools (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush)
• Solid understanding of material creation, UV workflows, and optimization techniques
• Ability to independently own assets from concept support through final implementation

Senior Level

• 5+ years of professional experience in game development
• Shipped at least one AA or AAA title with significant contribution to asset production
• Advanced proficiency in prop creation, material workflows, and engine integration
• Ability to guide visual quality and consistency across asset sets
• Experience mentoring artists and helping define production standards
• Strong problem-solving skills in both artistic and technical domains

All Levels Should Have:

• Strong working knowledge of Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5), including asset integration, material workflows, and environment art pipelines
• Experience working with 3D production tools and understanding of real-time asset workflows (modeling, UVs, texturing, optimization)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines (design, art, technical art, engineering)
• Ability to iterate quickly on assets while maintaining visual quality and performance standards
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address artistic and technical challenges in production
• Good time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple assets and deadlines
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving development environment
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take direction as needed

Bonus XP:

• Experience with procedural or modular asset workflows
• Strong material authoring skills (e.g., Substance Designer or equivalent)
• Experience creating optimized, reusable prop or kit-based asset systems
• Shipped a AA/AAA title or contributed meaningfully to a released game (for higher levels)
• Experience iterating on assets based on art direction, playtests, or production feedback
• Familiarity with advanced Unreal Engine workflows (Nanite, lighting workflows, shader/material optimization, or asset streaming considerations)

Pay range: $60,000 - $130,000. Title level and base pay offered will be based on candidate’s skills, experience, and other professional considerations.
