Here, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.Newsweek Recognizes Sedgwick as America’s Greatest Workplaces National Top CompaniesCertified as a Great Place to WorkFortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & InsuranceSenior Marine Surveyor****PRIMARY PURPOSE****: To inspect damaged cargo to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES*** Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.* Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.* Receives and reviews new claims and maintains data integrity in the claims system.**ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES*** Performs other duties as assigned.* Supports the organization's quality program(s).* Travels as required.**QUALIFICATIONS****Education & Licensing** Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Valid driver's license and current insurance coverage required, along with motor vehicle record that meets Property requirements.**Experience** Six (6) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.**Skills & Knowledge*** Good oral and written communication skills* PC literate, including Microsoft Office products* Good customer service skills* Good organizational skills* Ability to work independently and in a team environment* Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies**WORK ENVIRONMENT** When applicable and appropriate, consideration will be given to reasonable accommodations.**Mental**: Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines**Physical**:* Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach/work overhead, lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds* Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day* Ability to work in wet and/or humid conditions, high/precarious places, outside weather conditions (extreme cold or heat), and in moderately noisy environments* Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals* Ability to use close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as good depth perception and ability to adjust focus* Ability to work in all elements and weather conditions**Auditory/Visual**: Hearing, vision and talkingThe statements contained in this document are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a colleague assigned to this description.
