Chief Estimator – Underground Site Utilities

Job Overview

• Company: Bear Creek Construction, Ltd.
• Salary/Pay Rate: $90,000 - $140,000 per year (Salary, plus Annual Bonus)

The Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role in driving preconstruction success by leading commercial wet utility estimating across the DFW Metroplex. Joining a financially secure, debt-free team with 26 years of stability, you will directly influence our project pipeline using state-of-the-art industry software. How You Will Make an Impact

• Prepare precise commercial estimates for storm, water, and sewer utility projects using specialized bidding platforms.
• Analyze civil blueprints, project specifications, and scope requirements to build competitive, highly accurate project bids.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and utility plan reviews using tools such as PlanSwift and HCSS Heavy Bid.
• Collaborate with general contractors, project owners, and internal operations to ensure clear communication throughout the bidding process.
• Partner with accounting and purchasing departments to prepare detailed project budgets and secure competitive pre-bid material quotes.
• Facilitate seamless preconstruction planning and handoffs to the project management team upon award.
• Process, track, and maintain accurate documentation for project change orders and official project correspondence.
• Work with and help develop the estimating team that currently includes an estimator and an estimator coordinator.  

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial wet utility estimating, specifically focused on commercial storm, water, and sewer systems.
• Proven track record of independently facilitating the complete bidding process for commercial wet utility projects.
• Demonstrated ability to read and analyze complex civil blueprints, technical specifications, and site development plans.
• Proficiency and hands-on experience using specialized estimating software including PlanSwift, Microsoft Project and HCSS Heavy Bid as well as IsqFt, BuildingConnected, Procore, or SmartBid and standard Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid extending to the ability to build, update and analyze the estimating data base.  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build professional relationships with general contractors, clients, and internal teams.

Additional Qualifications

• Preferred - Active Responsible Managing Employee – Underground (RME-U) or Responsible Master Plumber (RMP) license 
• Professional bilingual communication skills a plus.
