Energy Auditor

Overview Capital Area Community Services, Inc. is hiring an Energy Auditor for the Weatherization Program to oversee the completion of all weatherization work according to the standards established by the Department of Energy (DOE) and Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS). They assist with the implementation of energy conservation programs through the energy audit of residential properties, record pertinent data in written and computerized formats, and generate work order specifications for the energy conservation measures to be installed by contractors. Ensure proper follow through and inspections in the field, verify quality installations, and client satisfaction. Essential Functions Conduct the Energy Audit at the client's home according to a detailed format, including performing tests such as blower door, pressure, and heating system efficiency assessments. Assess and document the condition of the site. Educate the client to identify energy savings opportunities. Identify potential health and safety dangers. Identify energy savings products such as LED light bulbs. Meter appliances for possible replacement. Perform energy savings functions such as water temperature turn down. Use company-provided tools and equipment (e.g., blower door, pressure pan) to aid in testing. Communicate with the client and schedule energy audit appointments. Document information collected at the energy audit in the required format. Develop a work order of specifications for contractors selected to complete the work. Review contractor billing and verify that bid prices and actual work performed are of quality and accuracy. Inspect work to ensure conformity with the work order, bill, and accepted weatherization guidelines. Verify that the client's folder contains all required paperwork from funding sources and agency requirements. Demonstrate multitasking ability and maintain a dynamic work in progress. Work in a team environment and adapt to changing procedures. Possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel when needed. Maintain professional boundaries with clients and staff, and protect client and staff confidentiality in accordance with CACS policies and procedures. Abide by all CACS safety policies and procedures. Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CACS. Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of the Weatherization program. Education The job requires knowledge equivalent to that normally acquired through specialized training such as approximately one year of technical, vocational or trade school with coursework in construction methods and terminology, building codes, and a firm understanding of the DOE rules including Standard Work Specifications and MDHHS CSPMs. Must have or obtain BPI EA/QCI certification from an IREC accredited training provider within 6 months. Skills/Experience Enthusiasm to learn through on-the-job training, strong customer service and communication skills, multitasking ability, trade skills, computer skills (Microsoft Office, work order management software), basic math and problem solving skills.
