This position exists to assure security is maintained by supervising, planning, directing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating the facility security at MCF‑Shakopee and Security Division personnel in a manner that will maximize the attainment of institution and department goals and working directly with incarcerated individuals to ensure they are treated in a humane and dignified manner while maintaining the seamless security of the facility. Responsibilities Maintain a working knowledge of gender‑specific correctional practices and initiatives as it relates to the female incarcerated population. Oversee and coordinate security operations, including Watch Office, site security, CIP security, Master Control, Transportation, and Detail/New Staff/Security Training. Lead and manage security teams such as Squad, SORT/SOG/MO/CNT, inside/outside grounds security, and ICs. Coordinate with other departments on Security Liaison duties, Security Audit Coordination, Emergency Manual, Security Shake‑downs, Armory and Chemical Munitions, Officer Staffing, Weapon Control, camera plans, and 800 MHz radio communications. Participate in perimeter security planning and facility expansion projects. Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years or more supervisory experience in a corrections security program/unit (e.g., living unit, program unit, squad, utility). Experience conducting investigations and writing investigation reports. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a two‑year degree or higher program. Experience with continuous improvement methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Experience in committee and/or project leadership/management. Knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures for budget development and administration. Training or experience in evidence‑based practices such as cognitive/behavioral programming and motivational interviewing. Physical Requirements The completion of pre‑placement physical components may be required, such as tuberculosis screening, commercial driver’s license (CDL), drug test, and/or respirator clearance. Top candidates must pass a criminal history check, including completion of all sentencing and restitution requirements, and pass sexual harassment incident checks.
