Sales Tax Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Sales Tax Specialist to manage sales and use tax compliance, reporting, and related accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sales tax regulations, filing requirements, and tax research, along with excellent analytical and organizational skills. This is a long-term contract role.Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.Ensure timely and accurate tax payments and compliance with applicable state and local tax regulations.Reconcile sales tax accounts and investigate discrepancies.Maintain accurate tax records, supporting documentation, and exemption certificates.Research taxability issues, tax rate changes, and regulatory updates.Assist with sales tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.Review transactions to ensure appropriate tax treatment and accurate tax calculations.Collaborate with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and other accounting teams.Identify opportunities to improve tax compliance processes and procedures.Maintain tax calendars and monitor filing deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.
