About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 12 weeks Shift: 06:00 - 18:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Must have active state license Certifications: ACLS BLS PALS Must-Have: ACLS BLS PALS Ideal to have TNCC, NRP, ENPC Description: The Emergency Department accommodates 16 beds. Patient ratios are 3-4:1, or 1:1 for trauma/critical patients. Nursing staff includes unit secretaries and tech availability. Equipment used includes BD Insyte IVs. The documentation system in place is Meditech. Scheduling requires 36 hours, with 2 weekends per month. There is a policy where RNs are not required to float unless cross-trained. Advanced skills preferred include ultrasound IV placement, EKGs, and knowledge of chest tubes and central line setup. Procedures performed in the unit include peripheral IV insertion, ultrasound-guided IV insertion, IO insertion management, and central line dressing changes. Blood and urine specimen collection is conducted, along with blood culture collection and end-tidal CO2 monitoring. Staff also performs 12-lead ECG acquisition, defibrillation, and synchronized cardioversion (assisting). Transcutaneous pacing (assisting) and Belmont rapid infuser operation are expected. Management includes MTP implementation, splint application, hemorrhage control, and tourniquet application. Wound irrigation, IV medication administration, and blood product administration are part of the role. Procedural sedation monitoring and medication titration are required tasks. Utilization of the Broselow/Panda system for pediatric IV insertion is necessary. Foley catheter insertion and straight catheter insertion are performed as needed. The unit has a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration with physicians and mid-level providers. Consider this opportunity to join a dedicated and professional team environment.
