Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM or 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute meal break
• Flexible weekend and holiday scheduling required
• If low census, may be placed on low needs status
• One day of orientation with an RN upon start
• Unit operates with 32 beds and a daily census of 17.5
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 Med Surg, 1:2-1:4 IMC, and 1:1-1:3 ICU/step-down
• Two nursing aids scheduled per shift
• Charge nurse and house supervisor on duty; charge nurse takes patient assignments
• Commonly treat patients with COPD, pneumonia, AFib RVR, DKA, CIWA, and cardiac conditions
• Required to perform phlebotomy, IV starts, EKG interpretation, telemetry monitoring, and cardioversions
• Must read own telemetry strips; no monitor techs on unit
• Required to titrate drips including pressors, insulin, anticoagulants, epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, and angiotensin-II
• Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPap, high flow, and ventilators with RT coverage 22 hours/7 days
• May float to the ED as a helping hand during code/trauma if assigned to code team
• Charting system: Cerner
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs, no hoodies
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
• Strong communication skills, critical thinking, time management, and teamwork required
• Must be comfortable with BSSR and Hourly Rounding protocols

This acute care facility operates a Med Surg/Telemetry unit with 32 beds, offering a comprehensive range of inpatient services including step-down and ICU-level care. The facility provides robust respiratory therapy coverage and utilizes Cerner for electronic charting. The organization maintains high standards of patient care through structured rounding protocols, dedicated charge nursing leadership, and consistent aide support on every shift.
