Position Description: HBG Design is seeking a skilled Technical Designer II to contribute to the design and delivery of the firm’s hospitality and entertainment projects. The position will assist in preparing architectural designs and construction documents and serve as a bridge between the firm’s design and construction documentation functions. The Successful Candidate:
If you are looking for an exciting new place to grow, HBG Design is seeking a designer with the ability to work independently to deliver high-caliber projects and help manage others in building their skills in project documentation and design solutions. This position requires a thorough understanding of building materials, construction methods and costs, and the ability to interact and appropriately apply building codes and regulations. The successful candidate will also possess high level analytical and problem-solving skills.
The Compensation:
$70,000 - $85,000 per year.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, regional cost of living, experience, and qualifications.
Position Responsibilities:
•\tWork closely with Project Team to translate design concepts into “real” cost-effective and innovative solutions.
•\tUsing BIM software (Revit) as a tool, assist in developing designs and sketches into 3D models and construction methods, coordination with specifications, office/project standards, and compliance with codes, and design intent.
•\tDevelop solutions to architectural design challenges and architectural detailing.
•\tAid in documenting and maintaining files on all design decisions pertaining to selection of certain materials and methods of construction, especially in conjunction with code compliance.
•\tParticipate in consultant coordination meetings under the direction of the Project Architect, Senior Architectural Designer, or Project Manager.
•\tAssist Project Architect in submittal reviews, RFIs, and ASIs as needed.
Qualifications:
•\tHolds a bachelor’s degree from an architectural design school/program.
•\tTechnical Designer (unlicensed) with 6 years minimum practical experience in documentation and architectural design.
•\tIn process of acquiring AXP hours with intention to pursue exams and licensure.
•\tAbility to assist a team in the documentation and/or design of a project.
•\tFully competent in all aspects of architecture and thorough understanding of the construction process, techniques, materials, and standards.
•\tGood communication skills and possesses desire to improve capabilities of other team members.
•\tExcellent understanding and level of competency in technology used by HBG Design.
