Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring 1 year of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• General Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Works every other weekend unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Uses Epic for charting, Pyxis, and SBAR communication method
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Skilled in central line blood draws and peripheral line care/management
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oral suctioning
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and renal failure patient care preferred
• Familiarity with Heparin and PCA medication administration
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a general Med/Surg unit including IV therapy, wound care, and respiratory support
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized prior to submission
• Holiday coverage required for major holidays falling within the assignment period, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• If one or two major holidays fall within the assignment, both must be worked with no holiday time off permitted
• If three major holidays fall within the assignment, two must be worked and one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements must be completed on time to avoid a two-week delay due to biweekly orientation scheduling
• Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
