Position Summary

Guy Harvey Resort St. Augustine Beach is seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to provide property-wide leadership during evening operations. This position serves as Manager on Duty and works closely with the General Manager and department leaders to ensure consistent execution of resort standards, exceptional guest experiences, employee accountability, and effective communication across the property.

The ideal candidate is a visible leader who is comfortable moving throughout the resort, interacting with guests and employees, solving problems, making sound operational decisions, and taking ownership of issues rather than simply reporting them.

Essential Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will oversee resort operations during assigned shifts and provide leadership across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Engineering/Maintenance, Security, and other guest-facing areas.

Key responsibilities include:

• Serve as Manager on Duty and represent resort leadership during assigned evening hours.
• Conduct regular property walks to monitor cleanliness, maintenance, safety, service, staffing, and overall resort presentation.
• Resolve escalated guest concerns and provide appropriate service recovery within established authority.
• Coordinate communication and operational response between departments to maintain a seamless guest experience.
• Provide real-time employee coaching, reinforce resort expectations, recognize strong performance, and document significant concerns requiring follow-up.
• Monitor restaurant, bar, and other Food & Beverage operations for guest service, staffing, sanitation, safety, and operational concerns while supporting established F&B leadership.
• Respond appropriately to guest incidents, medical situations, security concerns, severe weather, property emergencies, and other operational issues.
• Complete an effective Manager on Duty turnover report documenting significant incidents, guest concerns, maintenance issues, employee matters, and items requiring follow-up.

What We Are Looking For

This position requires strong leadership presence, professional judgment, communication skills, and the ability to remain composed when the resort is busy or unexpected situations arise.

The successful candidate should understand that serving as Manager on Duty means taking ownership of the entire resort operation during the assigned shift. The Operations Manager is expected to identify, address, document, and communicate operational issues—not merely observe and report them.

Candidates should demonstrate experience in hospitality, resort operations, hotel management, guest services, Food & Beverage, or another comparable multi-department operating environment. Previous supervisory, management, or Manager on Duty experience is strongly preferred.

The position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment within established policies and delegated authority while recognizing situations requiring immediate escalation to the General Manager.

Schedule & Work Environment

The Operations Manager will primarily provide evening leadership coverage and must be available for weekends, holidays, and changing schedules based on resort occupancy and operational needs.

The position requires regular movement throughout guest rooms, public areas, Food & Beverage outlets, exterior areas, and back-of-house operations. The Operations Manager must be comfortable maintaining a highly visible presence throughout the property.
