Behavior Interventionist

Behavioral Support SpecialistPrimary Purpose: To serve as a resource to campus staff in the development of positive behavioral support programs for all students including the development of a proactive program to identify and address problem behavior(s) affecting a student's ability to be successful in the general education classroom. When necessary, plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of student behavior intervention, to eligible students.Qualifications:Education/Certification: Bachelors Degree in Special Education or Applied Behavior AnalysisValid Texas Educator's CertificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of assessment including behavioral, adaptive, and personality areasAbility to design and interpret functional analyses of behaviorExpertise in behavioral intervention related to school success and school/family coordinationKnowledge of federal, state and local regulations and current legal issuesExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Three years experience with school-age childrenMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Guidance:Provide guidance to campus intervention teams in developing social skills objectives and behavior intervention plansProvide social skills training, behavior intervention and other strategies for effective behavioral changeHelp solve student conflicts and problems in learning and adjustmentConsultation:Consult with parents, teachers, administrators and other relevant people to enhance their work with studentsWork with school personnel to obtain community resources for students and familiesAssessment:Interpret functional analyses of behavior resultsConduct functional behavioral assessments on studentsOther:Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students' progress on goals and objectivesCommunicate effectively with administrators, colleagues, students and parentsDevelop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the assessment program, materials and equipment and make recommendations to the Director of Special Education based on findingsAttend and participate in campus and district level in-service meetings upon requestParticipate in professional development opportunities to improve skills related to job responsibilitiesTurn in all folders and submit reports in a timely mannerAct in a professional manner and maintain a professional attitude towards the public and colleaguesMaintain confidentiality of sensitive information; adhere to chain of commandMaintain professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilitiesObserve professional and ethical standards, in accordance with TEAPerform other duties as assigned by Director of Special EducationSupervisory Responsibilities: As specified by administrationWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stressRegular travel to assigned districts in the SSAModerate lifting and carrying of materialsRequires ability to interact effectively with a variety of people and professionsExemptions Status: ExemptCompensation: Teacher Salary Schedule Contract: 202 DaysThe previous statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
