We are looking for a detail-oriented Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations in McLean, Virginia. This role will oversee daily financial activity, contribute to accurate month-end reporting, and help maintain strong controls across cash, payroll, and general ledger processes. The ideal candidate brings solid reconciliation experience, strong systems knowledge, and the ability to analyze financial data across multiple business levels.

Responsibilities:
• Manage event-related accounting activities, including preparing financial settlements, tracking related costs, producing timely financial summaries, and posting supporting journal entries.
• Record payroll activity in the general ledger for recurring payroll cycles and period-end accruals while ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Post daily cash receipts to the accounting records and maintain organized documentation for all receipt activity.
• Analyze account activity at both the facility and corporate level to identify variances, support reporting, and improve accuracy.
• Reconcile incoming cash transactions, apply accounts receivable receipts appropriately, and maintain up-to-date cash journals.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations to support a reliable close process.
• Review accounts payable invoices in the designated accounting system to confirm proper coding and processing.
• Assist with additional accounting assignments and operational priorities as needed.

• Demonstrated experience with account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and month-end close activities.

• Ability to accurately process and analyze cash receipts, payroll entries, and accruals.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, reporting, and data review.

• Experience using enterprise accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review financial activity across different business levels.
