Staff Radiological Technologist (35 Hour)

Position Highlights Full‑time Staff Radiological Technologist, first shift (11:00 AM–6:00 PM), Monday–Friday, 35 hours per week, located at Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers, CT. Apply independent judgement to prescribe ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Produce radiographs and provide immobilization devices. Position individuals for imaging. Select appropriate technical factors on an individual basis. Operate equipment as directed. Develop film by automatic and manual processing. Provide protection in accordance with safety standards. Practice sterile techniques and infection control policies. Maintain adequate records. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work area. Secure and return special equipment. Assist Physician in administering opaque media. Assist in performing first aid as necessary. Possibly responsible for delegated areas or special procedures. Possibly perform preventive maintenance and quality assurance measurement of equipment. Possibly operate patient monitoring equipment such as an electrocardiograph. Perform related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of radiographic procedures and equipment; radiographic film processing techniques; infection control policies and procedures; individual monitoring equipment; interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment and follow oral and written instructions. Minimum Qualifications Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists and hold a current Connecticut state license. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with correctional or forensic populations. Working Conditions Incumbents may be required to lift and position individuals and may be exposed to radiation, moderately disagreeable conditions, and occasionally infectious and/or communicable diseases.
