This position at Little Friends is dedicated to providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children during the school day and aftercare program. This role involves organizing recreational activities, and fostering a positive atmosphere that promotes holistic development and a lifelong love of learning. Working within a medium-sized team, the teacher will report to the Operation Manager and Director, contributing to a program that values diversity, inclusion, and child-centered education.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being
• Manage and guide behavior to maintain a positive environment
• Monitor and maintain safety protocols during program hours
• Assist children with learning activities
• Organize and lead recreational and creative activities
• Collaborate with team members to support program goals
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in early childhood education
• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Background check clearance
• DCF certification
• Strong knowledge of child development principles
• Skills in classroom management
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Each week, each class has a special letter – they learn its name, what it looks like, how it sounds, and how it is formed when they write it. They learn how letters to go together to make words, and they learn how to “decode” words.
