The campus blends a comfortable college‑town feel with the city. Job Description Temporary Regimental Duty Officer role aboard T.S. EMPIRE STATE for the summer training. The assignment may be for the entire 85‑day training period or half periods. Incumbents may be assigned in different capacities as the needs of the ship and their background allow. Responsibilities Serve as a mentor and training officer for cadets during sea term activities. Perform various administrative duties supporting cadets and ship’s officers. Assist in the development and completion of port‑call activities (if applicable). Serve on watch for alcohol testing and gangway watches. Complete daily health and safety inspections of cadet berthing/common areas. Supervise cleaning details (AM/PM). Participate in daily musters and accountability exercises. Assist in completing the daily "plan of the day" information. Support the Senior Regimental Officer afloat and other Regimental Officers in their daily duties both afloat and in‑port. Assist in determining random alcohol testing procedures/listings and testing. Participate on the Ship’s Safety Committee. The training days are geared to maximize the cadets’ experience and flexibility is required regarding daily scheduling of duties. Requirements Required Qualifications Member/Former Member of the United States Military/Merchant Marine (Active Duty/Reserve/Veteran) Demonstrated leadership skills with excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills; ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks. Demonstrated organizational skills and good communication. Model appropriate character and strong ethics through disciplined behavior and professional appearance. Experience with clerical and administrative duties. U.S. Passport. TWIC. Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC). Valid Medical Certificate (renewed every 2 years). DOT/USCG Periodic Drug Testing Documentation: Letter from employer indicating participation in a random testing program for at least 60 days in the past 185 days, or a chemical test result for dangerous drugs within the past 185 days. Preferred Qualifications Military or Merchant Marine Service (documented). Undergraduate degree completion. Benefits Salary is based on a daily rate of pay and commensurate with license, certification, and experience. Housing and all meals are included while aboard the training ship. Additional Information This is a temporary appointment (FLSA exempt; not eligible for overtime). Incumbents are responsible for out‑of‑pocket expenses for obtaining necessary government paperwork and clearance for the position.
