Job Description
Company Description Jacobson Law, PLLC is a New York City–based firm dedicated to representing students with disabilities and their families when the public school system fails to provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE). The firm focuses on matters involving inadequate IEPs, unsuitable school placements, missing or insufficient related services, and failures to implement mandated programs or conduct appropriate evaluations. Services include reviewing educational records, advising families before and during CSE and CPSE meetings, requesting independent evaluations, filing due process complaints, and representing clients at impartial hearings and administrative appeals. The firm seeks individualized remedies such as compensatory education, specialized nonpublic-school placements, assistive technology and AAC services, ABA programming, tuition reimbursement, and orders requiring appropriate educational programs. s.
\nWho We’re Looking For:
\nNewly admitted attorneys are encouraged to apply. While experience in special education law is helpful, it is not required. We are primarily seeking someone with a strong desire to support clients, a willingness to learn, and the ability to think critically and communicate effectively.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n- \n
- Represent families in matters involving special education rights and services \n
- Advise clients on navigating the special education process, including IEPs, evaluations, and disputes with school districts \n
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, briefs, and correspondence \n
- Attend meetings, mediations, and hearings as needed \n
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and staff to develop case strategies \n
Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school \n
- Admission to the New York state bar (or pending admission) \n
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills \n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities \n
- A genuine interest in helping clients navigate their children’s special education needs \n
- Willingness to learn and grow within a specialized practice area \n

Compensation Range
\n$80,000 - $120,000 base salary plus bonus potential
