Chair of Emergency Medicine

The client seeks an accomplished and visionary physician leader to serve as the next Chair of Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine Service Line Leader. The role will provide leadership for emergency care delivered across diverse clinical settings, including a tertiary academic trauma center and multiple critical access hospitals. The Chair will work with an academic medical community focused on advancing clinical care, research, and education. The incoming Chair will join a strong, rapidly growing emergency medicine department committed to excellence in clinical care, education, research, and community engagement. Reporting jointly to the client’s dean and the president and CEO of the client’s medical group, the Chair will guide continued growth and impact. Responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring, and supporting a diverse faculty across career stages, providing educational leadership, overseeing clinical operations for a high-volume multisite enterprise, and advancing research efforts, with integrity and inclusive leadership essential. Qualified candidates must hold an appropriate medical degree (M.D., D.O., or an equivalent international medical degree) and be board certified in emergency medicine, with eligibility for medical licensure in the relevant states. The Chair is expected to work clinically in emergency departments alongside the team and should have credentials suitable for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor on a clinical or tenure pathway. Experience in advanced value-based care environments and rural health systems is highly preferred.
