Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid Registered Nurse License Certifications: Relevant certifications as required Must-Have: Flexibility with shifts/hours and days Description: Provides professional nursing care to individuals housed in a state-owned or operated facility or institution. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds, takes and records vital signs, prepares and administers prescribed medications. Follows ordered treatment plans and immunizations. Monitors restrained patients on a timely basis. Provides immediate medical attention in emergencies. Administers first aid, arranges transportation to a hospital emergency room, and contacts the staff physician when necessary. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals when needed. If assigned, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff, including authority to approve or disapprove leave requests. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff, and trains and orients new employees. Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients, including making rounds, evaluating care needed and rendered. Develops care plans and teaches health care principles to patients. Administers medication, including narcotics, and renders direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures, such as IV therapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, and dialysis. Organizes and oversees medical emergency response teams. Directs health care staff assigned to the area. Acts as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of a supervising nurse. Assists physicians in diagnostic health evaluations. Performs clerical tasks, including tracking medications and treatments. Completes required reports and documents medical information accurately. Arranges for out-patient clinic appointments. Maintains an inventory of controlled substances and medical supplies. Serves as a liaison with others in the organization. Conducts and attends meetings. Serves as an instructor and participates in problem-solving teams or groups.
