Registered Nurse – Heme/Heme Malignancies – Per Diem Per‑demand position located at South Lake Union, Seattle. Schedule varies Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator provides clinical support to medical providers, including nursing assessments, triage, patient education, and care coordination for complex outpatients. The coordinator is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to provide the highest level of care for patients, incorporating research and evidence‑based knowledge into practice. Responsibilities Assess physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs; develop and modify care plans based on disease, symptoms, and treatment response. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on disease processes, treatment side effects, and symptom management. Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and refer patients to appropriate resources such as social work, home health, nutrition, and other clinical services. Integrate research and evidence‑based knowledge into clinical practice. Perform direct patient care duties such as telephone and email symptom triage, post‑procedure monitoring, medication side‑effect assessment, and new patient orientation. Assist with in‑clinic procedures, including setup, consent, time‑out, and patient positioning. Manage documentation, prescription refills, result reviews, and Epic Rehab Medicine Clinical Support InBasket inquiries. Handle administrative tasks such as FMLA paperwork, disability documentation, ferry passes, coordination of outside clinical care, and external referrals for rehabilitation. Facilitate communication and teamwork by attending regular team meetings, coordinating schedules, delegating tasks, and providing real‑time management of clinic issues. Document all nursing care activities accurately and on time; demonstrate knowledge of patient privacy rights; participate in continuing education, departmental projects, and committees. Direct Patient Care Educate patients and families specific to rehabilitation services. Provide telephone and email symptom triage. Engage in meaningful patient follow‑up and care coordination. Assist with post‑procedure monitoring and medication side‑effect management. Conduct new patient orientation to the service line. Support caregivers. Assist with in‑clinic procedures (setup, consent, time‑out, patient positioning). Assess needs for additional supportive care resources. Handle prescription refills and medication questions. Review test results. Indirect Patient Care Provide supportive care referrals. Process FMLA paperwork, disability documentation, and ferry passes. Coordinate outside clinical care and ensure continuity with external providers. Collaborate with the research team for patients on trial. Place physiatry return orders and supportive care referral orders as directed by MD. Coordinate responses to patient inquiries via MyChart and phone. Coordinate lab tests and notify patients. Coordinate with Supportive Care and medical care teams across Fred Hutch sites. Facilitate external referrals for ongoing rehabilitation needs. Manage Epic Rehab Medicine Clinical Support InBasket inquiries. Communication and Teamwork Attend regular team meetings with provider and nursing teams. Coordinate care with ancillary services. Delegate tasks to appropriate team members. Coordinate patient schedules with the clinic team. Collaborate with infusion RN and other members of the care team to ensure patient needs are met. Manage real‑time clinic issues and escalation. Professional Development and Clinic Engagement Document all nursing care activities accurately and in a timely fashion. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Actively participate in continuing education, departmental projects, and committees. Qualifications Required: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or a current NLC multistate license (MSL); must upgrade to an MSL with primary state of residence, WA, within 60 days of hire. Applicants without prior oncology experience will receive additional training and support. Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent). Additional certification may be required depending on the department. Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and time‑management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and information‑sharing skills. Preferred: BSN‑prepared nurse. OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) or BMT RN certification. Two or more years of oncology nursing experience. Telephone triage experience. Outpatient clinic experience. Initiative, good communication skills, and ability to multitask and organize. Salary and Benefits Hourly pay range: $54.78 – $101.42 (includes per‑demand differential); pay awarded based on experience and qualifications. Potential relocation assistance.
