Electrical Designer - Renewable Energy

POSITION SUMMARYThe Electrical Designer position focuses on Electrical Design within our Renewable Energy group. A successful Designer will create construction documents and details, using AutoCAD and Revit, to support the project teams. The preferred applicant will have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow in their career. The Designer will report to a Crew Focused Design Manager.RESPONSIBILITIESCreate site specific, electrical details, drawings and supporting documents using AutoCAD and RevitProduce/modify cable schedule documents using ExcelProduce cable and equipment labelsEnsure proper dimensions of layout of equipment, devices, and raceways through careful reading of specs or construction and engineering plansCommunicate technical aspects of a project with other disciplines in the departmentRead and interpret construction drawings and documentsSupport the broader team in evaluation of new technologies to increase design efficiencyProduce internal reference documents and standards guidelines working with a teamQUALIFICATIONS4-year bachelor’s degree or 2-year associate’s degree with minimum 2 years on the job experience requiredWorking knowledge of AutoCAD and RevitFamiliar with the techniques of setting up sheets and views in RevitAbility to size electrical cables/conductors and raceways including derating and voltage dropKnowledge of National Electric Code among other code books, and the ability to read and navigate through themGeneral knowledge of construction principles, processes, and plansReviewing a wide variety of construction documentsAbility to use Microsoft Office productsSolid interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environmentDemonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values: Genuine, We Not I, All InAbility to work in a fast-paced environment requiring strong work ethicMcCarthy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
