Classroom Teacher

The classroom teacher will create a flexible, developmentally appropriate and creative environment where children can demonstrate personal growth, social skill, and the desire to integrate the arts into the daily language development and acquisition of academic skills.

Qualifications: Valid Michigan teaching certificate Bachelor's degree including all courses to meet credential requirements. Superior verbal and written communication skills. Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders. A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (May include but not be limited to): Exhibits a commitment to the District's Shared Visions of High-Quality Instruction Creates a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction Exhibits an understanding of creative development and essential practices of art education for elementary students and articulates and utilizes research based instructional strategies and methods appropriate for various grade levels Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in the classroom Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares report cards and other necessary documentation to report student growth and achievement Maintains student classroom records using current district technology and expectations Communicates regularly with parents through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students address social, emotional and academic issues Creates an effective and welcoming environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, instructional materials, bulletin boards, and websites Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self- selected professional growth activities Utilizes age and content appropriate aids; maintains required inventory records Provides supervision and oversight to students throughout assigned work day Participates in school improvement initiatives at the school level, committees and collaborative learning teams Executes other duties as assigned by building administrator Salary: Per the HFT Teacher Contract
