Medical Assistant - CMA / MA

Job Description

Job Summary:

Providing comprehensive support to healthcare providers, the Medical Assistant (CMA/MA) performs clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient care and office operations. This role combines patient interaction, clinical procedures, and administrative duties to support quality healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and specimen collection to assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and manage supplies in compliance with infection control policies.
• Assist with patient scheduling, registration, and updating demographic and insurance information.
• Enter orders into EMR, prepare prescriptions, and handle documentation such as medical charts and test results.
• Support clerical functions including managing medical records, verifying insurance, and coordinating pre-authorizations.
• Follow safety procedures and PPE protocols to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.

Qualifications:

• Hold a high school diploma or GED with an approved Medical Assistant certification.
• Possess BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Demonstrate proficiency in clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen handling.
• Exhibit effective communication skills with diverse patient populations.
• Have knowledge of electronic medical records and medical billing systems (preferred but not required).
• Show adaptability to a dynamic healthcare environment.
