Homeownership Program Manager

Interfaith Housing Alliance is a nonprofit organization that strengthens communities by providing affordable housing opportunities and supportive services to improve the quality of life and economic stability for seniors, working families and individuals. We are currently seeking a full-time Homeownership Program Manager. This position offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of those that we serve. Position Summary The Homeownership Program Manager administers Interfaith Housing Alliance's homeownership programs by recruiting, educating, and supporting prospective homebuyers throughout the home purchase process. This position serves as the primary liaison among clients, lenders, contractors, funding partners, and community organizations to ensure participants receive the guidance, financing, and resources needed to achieve successful and sustainable homeownership. The Homeownership Program Manager is responsible for program administration, regulatory compliance, data management, and reporting while promoting IHA's mission through community outreach, education, and strategic partnerships. Essential Responsibilities Homebuyer Services Manage the homebuyer process from initial inquiry through post-purchase follow-up. Responsibilities include recruiting and screening applicants, determining program eligibility, providing one-on-one homeownership counseling, creating and leading homebuyer education classes, and helping clients improve mortgage readiness through financial and credit preparation. Guide participants through each stage of the home purchase process, coordinate financing with USDA Rural Development and other lending partners, attend financing and settlement meetings as needed, and maintain communication with homeowners after closing to support long-term success. Program Administration Maintain complete and accurate participant files in Salesforce and other required systems while preparing loan packages and collecting required documentation. Coordinate with lenders, appraisers, title companies, attorneys, contractors, and other partners throughout each transaction. Process invoices, change orders, close-out documentation, and other program records while monitoring timelines and ensuring compliance with lender, grant, and organizational requirements. Outreach, Partnerships, and Resource Development Promote IHA's homeownership programs through community outreach, presentations, partnerships, and educational events. Represent the organization at community meetings and collaborate with communications staff or vendors to support program marketing. Build and maintain relationships with community partners, identify opportunities to strengthen and expand homeownership resources, and support grant applications, reporting, and other fundraising initiatives related to homeownership programs. Reporting and Compliance Maintain accurate program data and prepare reports required by USDA, grant funders, lending partners, and organizational leadership. Monitor participant outcomes, ensure compliance with all applicable funding and lending requirements, and collect homeowner success stories and testimonials that demonstrate program impact. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant experience in affordable housing, community development, mortgage lending, nonprofit management, or a related field may substitute for formal education. Homeownership counseling certification, mortgage lending and loan packaging experience, or a real estate license is preferred. Experience Three to five years of experience in affordable housing, community development, mortgage lending, financial counseling, or a related nonprofit field is preferred. Experience working with government-funded housing programs, lenders, or community development organizations, as well as providing client education, counseling, or case management, is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Successful candidates will possess a strong understanding of the homebuying process, mortgage financing, and consumer credit. They will demonstrate excellent organizational, project management, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build productive relationships with clients, lenders, contractors, funding agencies, and community partners. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems, preferably Salesforce, is required, along with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and work at a computer for extended periods, occasionally lift materials weighing up to 20 pounds, and travel locally for client meetings, property closings, outreach events, and other program activities. Work Environment Interfaith Housing Alliance operates in a remote work environment. This position is expected to work remotely while maintaining a strong presence in the Frederick County community. Regular in-person meetings with clients, lenders, contractors, funding partners, and community organizations are an essential function of the role. Employees also participate in periodic team meetings, all-staff meetings, trainings, and organizational events held in person. Because this position requires frequent local travel and face-to-face engagement with community partners and program participants, candidates who reside in Frederick County, Maryland will receive preference. Candidates residing in nearby communities who can maintain a strong presence in Frederick County will also be considered. Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
