The Lead Cabin Services oversees and participates in the cleaning and sanitization of aircraft interiors, ensuring compliance with airline and safety regulations. This role involves coordinating a team, assigning tasks, conducting quality inspections, and maintaining efficiency in turnaround times. Strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union that requires joining the TWU and paying union dues.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist with the cleaning of aircraft cabins, including seats, tray tables, lavatories, and galleys.
- Ensure compliance with airline standards, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines.
- Assign tasks to cabin cleaning agents and monitor performance to maintain efficiency.
- Conduct inspections to ensure quality standards are met before aircraft departure.
- Train new team members on proper cleaning techniques, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
- Communicate with supervisors and airline representatives regarding cleaning schedules and special requests.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Prior experience in aircraft cabin cleaning or a related field preferred.
- HS Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organization; ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in supervising cleaning crews.
- Familiarity with airline cleaning standards and procedures.
- Ability to train and mentor team members.
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Experience using cleaning equipment and supplies efficiently.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for long periods, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
- Exposure to various weather conditions and airport environments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with strict deadlines.
- May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
