Doctor Of Chiropractic Medicine
Under general supervision of the Clinical Director of Physical Therapy, a Doctor of Chiropractic medicine will be responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of neuromusculoskeletal and spinal conditions among SRPMIC community member. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt. Essential functions may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledge, abilities, skills, and other characteristics. Examples Of Tasks
- Examines, diagnoses, and treats neuromusculoskeletal and spinal related conditions by using evidence-based chiropractic techniques.
- Performs manual adjustments to the spine, or other articulations of the body, to correct neuromusculoskeletal and spinal conditions.
- Uses heat, cold, massage therapy and other appropriate chiropractic methods to treat patients.
- Ensures physical therapy staff are kept informed of appropriate patient treatment plans.
- Arranges for and analyzes x-rays to locate the sources of patients' difficulties and rule out fractures or diseases as sources of problems.
- Develops individualized treatment plans based on each patient's needs.
- Educates the patient on various chiropractic therapies and exercises.
- Instructs patient, family, and caregivers in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals for comprehensive chiropractic care.
- Informs patients and refers to appropriate practitioners when diagnosis reveals findings outside the scope of chiropractic care.
- Participates in development of public relations and effective communication on chiropractic techniques and its effectiveness in treating and preventing neuromusculoskeletal and spinal conditions within and outside the facility.
- Records prognosis, treatments, responses, and progress in the patient's medical records.
- Prepares, maintains, and updates electronic medical records in accordance with clinic guidelines and organizational needs.
- Participates in community or clinic events or activities.
- Assists the supervisor and staff in all aspects and administrative tasks as assigned.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics :
- Knowledge of common neuromusculoskeletal and spinal conditions treated by chiropractic medicine.
- Knowledge of the Salt River-Pima Maricopa Indian Community, its resources and of the Pima-Maricopa/Native American culture and traditions
- Knowledge of chiropractic principles, ethical standards and techniques and practices for ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of apparatus and equipment used in chiropractic care.
- Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures, state and federal regulations, safety and infection control procedures, and quality assurance requirements.
- Skill in application of modern methods and principles of Chiropractic medicine in order to evaluate, advice, and manage the delivery of care.
- Skill in application of methods, techniques, and use of Chiropractic equipment in the delivery of evidenced-based care.
- Skill in listening well and communicating effectively with Community members and employees.
- Skill in identifying and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive and important information while using diplomacy and tact.
- Skill in utilizing a personal computer and use of an Electronic Medical Record to develop evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clinic staff, the community and health care providers.
- Skill in problem solving, analytical abilities, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Skill managing various employee types in stressful situations.
- Ability to quickly and accurately diagnose health problems and implement appropriate treatment plans
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and use good judgment.
- Ability to utilize proven organizational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks.
- Ability to diagnose and treat neuromusculoskeletal and spinal conditions among children and adults.
- Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with health care professionals and others in order to provide information and/or direction.
- Ability to display strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation for patient files.
- Ability to meet and comply with HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures and ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive patient information and staff member information.
- Ability to maintain a commitment to continuing education and staying current with advances in Chiropractic medicine.
- Ability to apply patience and empathy with patients
- Ability to adapt to changing work situations and assignments.
- Ability to stand on your feet and move for long periods of time
- Ability to handle and lift patients
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment, including personal computer, copy/fax machines or multiline telephone system
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience :
- Must have a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from a school of Chiropractic accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) at the time the degree was obtained.
- Certified through the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) [Preferred]
- Must have a current, valid Arizona license issued by the Arizona State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
- Must have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Chiropractor (Required)
- Graduated from an accredited Chiropractic Residency Program (Optional)
- Experience with Native American populations (Preferred)
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.
Underfill Eligibility:An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.
Special Requirements
- May be required to work beyond normal business hours including irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays. May be required to take call. Must have reliable transportation.

- New hires in clinical roles must present valid BLS certification (Healthcare Provider BLS for clinicians) prior to the first day of patient care.
- Ensures all patient information is kept confidential and complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and SRPMIC HHS policies and procedures.
