Vascular Surgery, Patient Care Tech - Full Time

Overview Barnes‑Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The Division 7500/75PCU is a fast‑paced cardiovascular surgery unit comprising 25 beds with a mix of step‑down and progressive care beds. This role supports patient care in the Vascular Surgery Progressive Care Unit. Job Purpose Provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed professional nurses, ensuring a safe environment and reducing risk of harm. Collects vital patient information and reports changes to the nursing team. Responsibilities Implements direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient‑ and family‑centered care. Assists patients with activities of daily living, performs vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point‑of‑care testing as requested. Collects clinical data and reports changes in patient status to the nurse. Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities with correct medical terminology. Acts as a 1:1 patient safety sitter when necessary. Ensures availability of supplies and equipment for each patient. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and engages in professional development. Minimum Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED. Experience No experience required. Supervisor Experience No experience required. Preferred Requirements Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician. 36 hours per week. Nights: 7 pm – 7 am. Holiday rotation. Every third weekend. Licenses & Certifications Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Proficiency in BLS, ACLS, acute care, arterial line monitoring, and pacer wires (preferred).
