Job TitleUnit Notes Daily Parking is ***+/day. Multiple options for on/off campus garages and lots ranging from *** - *** for monthly parking pass. RN's need to be open to floating! Busy/Large Level 1 Trauma Candidates need to be flexible on scheduling - no self scheduling EOW required EPIC required Successful placements here have 3+ years exp, previous travel exp. and have worked in a very busy hospital in the past. # of Beds 12, SICU (6CA) Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:2, 1:3 depending on downgrade/acuity/emergency admit (infrequent when staffed)Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, NIHSSCommon diagnoses/Types of patients Liver/kidney transplant, vascular surgeries like endarterectomies and fem/pop bypass, ENT for cancer, facial flaps, throat cancer resection, complicated throat/esophageal infections that compromise airway, abdominal surgery like colectomy, ex-laps, abdominal aneursym, mastectomy, deep tissue flapsExperience or 'Must have' skills early recognition of change in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, critical thinking skills, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator, various drains/surgical sitesAre RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips vasopressin, epinephrine, levophed, heparin, dobutamine, dopamine, versed, hydromorphone, fentanyl, ketamine, nimbex, esmolol, cardeneIs there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes; preference is free charge but depends on staffing, right now taking full assignmentAre there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Intermittent, dependent on census, 1:12 when present. Patient ADL's, blood glucose checks, transport assistHospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7? Yes, intensivist on unit days and/or nights, APP's on unit 24/7 RT in ICU 24/7? YesRT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? Not reallyAre there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No techs, yes, RN reads strip - Phillips monitorsShifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Scheduled based on unit needs Weekend Requirements 4-6 days in 6 weeks depending on coverage Holiday Requirements please check with Larkin on this one Is there a call or standby requirement? May be flexed off if census is low, not usually a problem. Standby only if unit closes for low census, again, not usually a problem maybe once/year if that Floating Requirements First to float, then OT floats, then remainder of staff. Float to other ICU's within hospital, skill set will be considered for assignmentScrub Color/Dress Code Teal bottoms, black or printed coordinating scrub top, no fleece jackets. No shellac, dip, or acrylic nails, no overlays. Unchipped regular nail polish is allowed. Professional and identifiable as nursing staff How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 2
