About the Position

We are seeking a Board Certified Vascular Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. This opportunity offers a diverse mix of clinic, operating room, inpatient rounding, and call responsibilities while caring for our nation's Veterans.

Position Highlights

• Clinic Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Operating Room Schedule: Monday–Friday

• 8.5-hour weekday clinical and surgical shifts

• Shared call coverage required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Maximum of 1,200 call hours annually

• On-call response requirements:
  • Available by phone within 15 minutes

  • On-site within 60 minutes when called in

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with vascular disorders.

• Perform outpatient consultations, inpatient evaluations, and vascular surgical procedures.

• Provide preoperative, operative, and postoperative patient care.

• Manage patients throughout the continuum of care, including admissions and discharges.

• Review daily consults and upcoming surgical cases.

• Coordinate diagnostic testing and treatment plans.

• Provide post-procedure follow-up and manage complications.

• Consult with referring providers regarding appropriate surgical management.

• Educate patients and families on treatment options and postoperative care.

• Complete accurate and timely medical documentation.

Scope of Practice

• Peripheral arterial disease

• Carotid artery disease

• Aortic and peripheral aneurysms

• Venous disease

• Dialysis access procedures

• Endocrine surgery within scope of practice

• Surgical oncology support

• Peripheral vascular trauma (excluding intracranial and cardiac vascular procedures)

Qualifications

• MD or DO

• Board Certified in Vascular Surgery

• Current unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory

• Active DEA registration

• National Provider Identifier (NPI)

• Clear Office of Inspector General (OIG) status
