Accounting SpecialistThe Accounting Specialist is a professional responsible for handling specific accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance within an organization's financial operations. The Accounting Specialist's duties include Accounts Payable (AP), Rent, Utilities, and Van Fleet. They play a crucial role in managing operational expenses and related financial records for the company. This specialist ensures that bills are paid on time, expenses are accurately categorized, and financial data related to these areas is maintained effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess accounts payable, including invoice entry, coding, approval routing, and payment runsPrepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset activityPerform monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, and balance sheet accountsExecute the period-end and year-end close process in accordance with established timelines.Prepare financial and management reports for the Controller's reviewPrepare and file sales and use tax returnsAssist with annual 1099 reportingProvide documentation and support for external audits and tax preparationMaintain internal controls and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processesQualificationsMinimum of two years of full-cycle bookkeeping or staff accounting experienceDemonstrated experience with month-end close and financial statement preparationThorough understanding of accrual-basis accounting and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracyStrong organizational and time management skillsProfessional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle confidential information with discretionPreferred QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldPrior experience in the accounting/bookkeeping sector
