Senior Therapeutic Radiographer - Stereotactic Radiosurgery Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Closing date: 25 August 2026 Job Summary This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer to join a friendly and enthusiastic team in Stereotactic Radiosurgery. To participate in the delivery of an efficient, high quality holistic service providing patient care for people undergoing Stereotactic Radiosurgery within the National Centre for Stereotactic Radiosurgery. To be involved in all aspects of the patient journey culminating in a safe/accurate delivery of radiation treatment requiring participation in a shift rota, and evening overtime work as required. To counsel and inform patients and relatives pre and post treatment using highly developed communication skills to patients often with barriers to understanding and communication. To deputise for the Team Leader with respect to the clinical duties and organisation of patient throughput. To encourage the development of staff and students by providing training, guidance and support as necessary. Main duties of the job To administer and take delegated responsibility for the accurate delivery of prescribed treatment plans, requiring highly developed psychomotor skills. To organise the patient journey throughout the Stereotactic Radiosurgery process. Use highly developed communication skills reassure and give advice to patients throughout the treatment pathway enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their treatment/care. Communicate sensitive/ distressing information relating to the treatment process arising from the diagnosis of pathologies of the brain and central nervous system, their carers and relatives, referring hospitals, GPs and other community care practitioners. Supervise and participate in the development of students and support workers ensuring they comply with Trust guidelines, policies and procedures, and current legislation at all times. Facilitate decision making by working within broadly defined protocols and use experience and clinical judgement to assess patients and technical issues ensuring the safe /accurate treatment delivery. To monitor the operation and maintenance of the Stereotactic Gamma Knife a ensuring all appropriate checks are carried out on equipment to ensure accuracy. Interpret, monitor and evaluate the Radiosurgery Treatment plan, data entry, and approve treatment prior to treatment commencing in accordance with Quality Protocols ad ensure treatment is delivered accurately.
