Shipping and Receiving SpecialistThe Shipping and Receiving Specialist oversees inbound and outbound activities in a large distribution hub, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely movement of FDA-regulated products. This role focuses on quality over quantity, coordinating deliveries with drivers, assigning dock doors, and maintaining precise inventory records while following established GMPs and SOPs.Responsibilities:Manage all inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring products are received and shipped accurately and on time.Ensure proper delivery of items to their intended destination and verify shipping documentation such as bills of lading.Coordinate with drivers upon arrival and departure, assigning dock doors and communicating loading and unloading instructions clearly.Maintain a strong focus on quality, prioritizing accuracy and compliance over volume in all shipping and receiving activities.Identify and correct mistakes in documentation, labeling, counts, and system entries to prevent errors in inventory and shipments.Ensure GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed throughout the shipping and receiving process, especially for FDA-regulated products.Perform data entry in warehouse management systems (WMS), Microsoft Excel, and other tools to track inventory, shipments, and receipts.Use RF scanners to accurately record product movements, locations, and counts within the warehouse.Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, stock checks, and reconciliation of physical inventory with system records.Communicate effectively with drivers, internal teams, and warehouse staff to coordinate scheduling, dock assignments, and shipment priorities.Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely to move, load, and unload product as needed.Follow all warehouse safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and safe operation of equipment.Assist with logistics coordination to ensure smooth flow of materials through the distribution hub.Maintain organized, accurate records of shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying process issues and suggesting enhancements to shipping and receiving workflows.Essential Skills:Demonstrated experience in shipping and receiving operations, including inbound and outbound processes.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily warehouse activities.Proficiency using warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and shipment processing.Strong computer skills, including data entry and navigation of common software tools.Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, for tracking and reporting inventory and shipment information.Experience using RF scanners to record and track product movements within a warehouse environment.Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers and internal stakeholders regarding dock assignments, schedules, and shipment details.Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors in documentation, counts, and system entries.Understanding of inventory control practices, including tracking, reconciliation, and accuracy checks.Comfort working with logistics and warehouse processes in a fast-paced distribution environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Familiarity with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), especially in handling FDA-regulated products, is a plus.Experience with SAP or similar inventory management systems is an advantage.Knowledge of bills of lading and other shipping documentation.Experience using Google Sheets or similar spreadsheet tools.Experience in logistics, inventory control, or warehouse operations within a distribution hub environment.Forklift operating experience in a warehouse setting.Comfort working in a semi-climate-controlled environment where product temperature requirements must be maintained.Why Work Here?You join a modern, growing operation that values your performance and offers clear opportunities to advance. You work in a large, approximately 500,000-square-foot warehouse with around 40 employees in a brand-new, semi-climate-controlled facility. The warehouse is air conditioned in the summer, while in winter the temperature remains lower to ensure products stay below required thresholds. The site functions as a distribution hub for chocolate manufacturing, including roasted beans, chocolate liquor, powders, cocoa butter, and related products. You use technologies such as RF scanners, warehouse management systems (WMS), Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Sheets, and potentially SAP, along with standard warehouse equipment including forklifts. The environment emphasizes safety, accuracy, and adherence to product handling standards.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bethlehem, PA.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
