Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: RN License in State of Employment or Compact Certifications: BLS Required, Chemo Certification Required Must-Have: - 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred Description: The competent nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently. Demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care with the ability to set long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage clinical nursing contingencies. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage the clinical situation. Responsible for meeting the expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers. Identifies issues and resources as needed.
