Purchasing InternThe Purchasing Intern performs key tasks in support of several service areas provided by Carmeuse's Purchasing Department. The role's primary emphasis is the collection and distribution of information related to existing Purchasing programs. Additionally, the role should promote continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to streamline effort in order to assist in additional areas. The Purchasing Intern will communicate frequently with all levels of the company plus several suppliers.Responsibilities and DutiesHandle a variety of tasks to assist the Purchasing DepartmentUtilize SAP (ERP system) to manage transactions. This includes issuing Purchase Orders, reconciling invoices, and creating reportsAssist and conduct Requests for Proposals (RFP's)Supplier and internal communicationsSupplier evaluation and negotiationsManagement of supplier database, including data entryOther projects as neededJob QualificationsUndergraduate or graduate business student; Supply Chain focus a plusSolid communication and analytical skillsWillingness to work with a variety of team membersHigh energy level and ability to multi-taskDesire to learn and take on responsibilityConduct all interactions in a professional manner
